Disk One

1. Out Of The Depths

Steve’s very first piece of electronic music, composed and recorded in 1982 when he was in
his final year at the University of London.

2. New Voyager

Steve’s third piece of music recorded using Clive Nolan’s synthesizers and four-track recorder.

3. Mock The Moocher

From Mock The Moocher, the second tape by Mooch, tracks for which were recorded during
summer 1992. This track features Conan McPhee on harmonica. Recorded with Steve’s
Fostex 4-track machine and North London Collegiate School’s music software.

4. Fusion Reactor

From Fusions, the third tape by Mooch, tracks for which were recorded during autumn 1992.
Having written the music, Steve used NLCS music software to create the drum and synth patterns.

5. Blissed Out

Blissed Out was a tape of four long pieces done after The Crypt Of Artificial Intelligences,
recorded in the style of that album’s endpiece Medina Oasis
.

6. Ethereal Breeze

With themes written by synth wizard Garry Lewin, this live recording, made some time in the
mid-1990’s, shows the improvising face of Mooch at its best. Featuring Garry and Cal Lewin
on synths, Terry Bartlett on treated guitar and Steve on guitar, it was recorded during a gig
at Luton Arts Centre.

in the mid-1990’s.

4. Input 51-18

Recorded by the whole band for the Dream FM session.

5. Dark Violin Oasis

Dating from 1998 or 1999, this piece was recorded on Steve’s Apple Mac computer using the
SoundEdit16 software (not intended for music).

6. Sub-Sahel

By the late 1990’s Steve was pushing Mooch into the background, becoming interested in ethnic
music and thinking about beginning the Blue Lily Commission solo project.

7. Moroccan Oasis

Another intermediate piece with many ethnic elements, this track also features a drum machine
part recorded using the Rebirth software and Steve’s DAT recorder.

8. Garden Of Earthly Passions

Recorded 2 May 2006 at the launch event for Gaiaspace, this live recording of a Steve solo piece
features Jez Creek on synthesizers.

To the track written by Steve and Don Falcone, a live 12 string slide guitar was added; also from
the 2006 launch event.
